ReviewScope.org respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This page explains how to notify us if you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your material has been removed in error.

Our commitment

We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable law. Where a notice is valid, we will remove or disable access to the material in question. We also terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts and access of users who are repeat infringers.

Before you send a notice

Much of the product imagery and product information on this site is supplied through the Amazon Product Advertising API and comparable retailer feeds, and is displayed under the terms of those programmes. If your concern relates to product images or listing data of that kind, it will usually be resolved faster through the retailer that supplies it.

Please also consider whether the use you are objecting to may be permitted as fair use, fair dealing, or an equivalent exception - for example, brief quotation for the purpose of review or commentary. Notices sent without that consideration can carry legal consequences, described below.

How to file a DMCA notice

Send your notice in writing to [email protected] with “DMCA Notice” in the subject line. To be effective, your notice must include all of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are covered by a single notice, provide a representative list.
  3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it - a direct URL to the page, and a description of the specific text or image on that page.
  4. Your contact information: Name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

An incomplete notice may not be actionable, and we may need to come back to you for the missing elements before we can respond.

What happens after we receive a notice

We review each notice on receipt. Where the notice is complete and the claim is not plainly unfounded, we will remove or disable access to the material, typically before contacting anyone else. We will then make a reasonable attempt to notify whoever published the material, and provide them with a copy of the notice.

Counter-notification

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake - or that the use was authorised by the copyright owner or by law - you may send a counter-notification to the same address. It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, postal address, and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, and that you will accept service of process from the party who filed the original notice or their agent.

Where the law provides for it, we may restore the removed material after the statutory waiting period unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed an action seeking a court order.

Misrepresentation

Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please be certain before you send either kind of notice.
